Medicinal Vinegars

Medicated vinegars are an ancient mode of extracting plant powers, having been used as far back as Hippocrates. They can be used both internally and externally, and have a longer shelf life than infusions prepared with just water due to their antiseptic properties. Mineral salts and potassium aid in strengthening the body’s metabolism and nervous system. In particular, vinegar acts as a tonic for the digestive tract and helps the body regulate its acid balance.

FIRE CIDER

Fire Cider is a traditional folk tonic made with vinegar. The ingredients used can vary, but in general they are used to stimulate the digestive system, build heat, and support different functions depending on a person's needs.

My fire cider includes ingredients to support the immune system during the seasonal changes (fall and spring). I also incorporate free range eggshells, which break down in the vinegar and provide a calcium boost to the tonic. You can take it as a shot (as we do) or watered down/ added honey. It also goes REALLY well on salads.

This apple cider vinegar (with The Mother) has been infused with: burdock root, onion, garlic, ginger, horseradish, jalapeno, and free range eggshells. Good for heartburn and for the digestive system, as this tonic contains probiotics which will enhance gut flora.

***Other variety with raw local honey available upon request***
